A Stewardship Philosophy for Generations
We acknowledge that everything we possess belongs ultimately to God.
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.”
— Psalm 24:1
Therefore, our family does not consider wealth as personal ownership, but as a sacred trust entrusted to us by God. We are not owners; we are stewards. Wealth is a tool to honor God, strengthen our family, bless others, and advance His Kingdom.
This Constitution exists to preserve not only our family’s financial capital, but also our spiritual values, character, and purpose across generations.
ARTICLE I: Our Purpose
The purpose of our family wealth is:
- To glorify God.
- To provide security and opportunity for future generations.
- To serve God’s Kingdom and bless society.
- To preserve capital so it may continue serving long after we are gone.
We measure success not by how much wealth we accumulate, but by how faithfully we steward what God has entrusted to us.
ARTICLE II: The Family Endowment
The Family Endowment shall be regarded as permanent capital.
It is not intended to finance lifestyle inflation or temporary desires.
Its primary purposes are:
- preserving purchasing power,
- generating sustainable income,
- protecting future generations,
- creating perpetual financial stability.
Every generation receives the privilege of stewarding the Endowment, but no generation owns it.
The Family Endowment does not belong to any individual. It belongs to a purpose that extends beyond any one lifetime.
Each generation is entrusted with the responsibility of protecting, growing, and wisely managing the Endowment before passing it on to those who come after. We are temporary stewards of a lasting legacy.
Therefore, no generation has the moral right to consume what was intended to sustain future generations. We may benefit from its income, improve its value through wise stewardship, and use it to bless others, but we must never diminish its ability to serve those who will come after us.
Our responsibility is simple: to leave the Endowment stronger than we received it—financially, morally, and spiritually.
The true measure of faithful stewardship is not how much we enjoy during our lifetime, but whether future generations inherit greater opportunities, stronger values, and an enduring testimony of God’s faithfulness.
ARTICLE III: Investment Philosophy
Our investment philosophy shall be guided by the following principles:
- Preserve capital before pursuing return.
- Seek sufficient return rather than maximum return.
- Avoid permanent loss of capital.
- Diversify across countries, currencies, and asset classes.
- Invest only in assets that we understand.
- Never speculate with the Family Endowment.
- Never allow greed or fear to dictate investment decisions.
Our investment philosophy is built upon the conviction that preserving what has been entrusted to us is more important than pursuing the highest possible return. We seek returns that are sufficient to preserve and steadily grow the Family Endowment over generations, rather than taking unnecessary risks in search of extraordinary gains. We recognize that permanent losses are far more damaging than temporary market fluctuations, and therefore we prioritize capital preservation, prudent diversification across countries, currencies, and asset classes, and investment only in businesses and assets we thoroughly understand. The Family Endowment shall never be used for speculation or emotional decision-making driven by greed during times of optimism or fear during times of uncertainty. We believe that disciplined stewardship consistently outperforms impulsive investing, and that patience—combined with wisdom, humility, and sound judgment—is our greatest and most enduring competitive advantage.
ARTICLE IV: Distribution Policy
The principal of the Family Endowment shall never be distributed. Only investment income may be considered for distribution.
Investment income shall be allocated in the following order:
- Preserve purchasing power by reinvesting an amount sufficient to offset inflation.
- Build future growth by reinvesting a portion into long-term opportunities.
- Maintain prudent reserves.
- Distribute only the remaining amount to family members according to agreed policies.
Each generation is encouraged to create value rather than depend upon distributions. The purpose of the Family Endowment is to provide a foundation, not a substitute for personal responsibility or productive work. Every generation is encouraged to build, create, serve, and contribute through their own gifts and calling, viewing distributions as a blessing rather than an entitlement.
ARTICLE V: Stewardship Principles
Every member of this family shall remember that we inherit stewardship, not entitlement. The Family Endowment is not a reward for personal achievement, nor a guarantee of financial comfort. It is a sacred trust entrusted to each generation, carrying with it the responsibility to preserve, grow, and faithfully pass it on to those who follow.
We believe that character will always be more valuable than capital. Wealth may be gained or lost, but integrity, wisdom, humility, diligence, and faithfulness are the qualities that sustain both a family and its legacy. Therefore, no financial success shall ever be pursued at the expense of our values or our testimony.
Above all, we recognize that the greatest inheritance we can leave to future generations is not wealth itself, but a legacy of faith in God, unwavering integrity, godly character, and the wisdom to steward every blessing for His glory. If these are faithfully preserved, the Family Endowment will always serve its true purpose; without them, no amount of wealth can secure our family’s future.
ARTICLE VI: Family Legacy
Our ultimate goal is not merely to accumulate wealth, but to build a family whose faith, character, generosity, wisdom, and love for God become its greatest inheritance. Financial resources are valuable only when they serve a higher purpose. Wealth can create opportunities, but only character can sustain them. Therefore, we seek to cultivate lives that honor God, serve others, and leave a lasting impact far beyond financial success.
We recognize that money is temporary, but character endures. Markets rise and fall, economies change, and fortunes may be gained or lost, yet faithfulness, integrity, and wisdom continue to shape generations long after financial assets have disappeared. We desire that every generation of our family will be remembered not for the size of its wealth, but for the strength of its faith, the integrity of its character, the generosity of its spirit, and the faithfulness with which it stewarded God’s blessings for His glory.
Family Declaration
We acknowledge that all we have belongs to God, and we are called to steward it faithfully.
We choose stewardship over ownership, wisdom over speculation, and faithfulness over short-term success. We seek not merely to build wealth, but to build character; not merely to become prosperous, but to become trustworthy.
We commit to preserve, strengthen, and faithfully pass on the Family Endowment, leaving it stronger than we received it, so that future generations may continue to glorify God, bless others, and bear witness to His faithfulness.
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity!”
“It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down upon the collar of his robes. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows His blessing, even life forevermore.”
— Psalm 133:1–3
Family Benediction
May our family always treasure unity above wealth, love above possessions, and faithfulness above success. May this Family Constitution never become merely a document that governs our assets, but a covenant that guards our hearts, strengthens our relationships, and reminds every generation that our greatest blessing is not what we own, but that we walk together under God’s grace.
May the Lord grant us the wisdom to steward faithfully, the humility to serve one another, and the love to remain united from generation to generation.
May future generations never have to choose between preserving the Family Endowment and preserving the family itself. We commit ourselves to preserving both.
