OUR MISSION
PEOPLE IS OUR MISSION
CONNECT WITH GOD, MAKE DISCIPLES
PRINCIPLE # 1. WE ARE TO CONNECT PEOPLE WITH GOD AND MAKE THEM DISCIPLES OF JESUS (MAT. 28-19-20).
We believe that we have a personal and corporate responsibility to carry out the Great Commission.
Mat.28:19-20 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Pro.24:11-12 If you see someone on their way to death or in danger of being killed, you must do something to save them. You cannot say, “It’s none of my business.” The Lord knows everything, and he knows why you do things. He watches you, and he will pay you back for what you do. (ERV)
PRINCIPLE # 2. WE ARE CALLED TO EQUIP PEOPLE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE FAMILY, WORK AND MINISTRY.
We (IFGF) have decided that our goal is to bring people to know Christ and bring them to grow.
Our strategy to achieve this mission is through DISCIPLESHIP JOURNEY which consists of four stages: COME, GROW, SERVE and LEAD.
Why Discipleship Journey? We want our people to grow towards maturity.
This process does not happen automatically, but must be done intentionally.
Therefore we must be committed to implement the DISCIPLESHIP JOURNEY.
PRINCIPLE # 3. WE DO NOT USE PEOPLE TO BUILD MINISTRY, BUT WE USE MINISTRY TO BUILD PEOPLE.
Many churches measure success with the large number of people attending Sunday services. Of course there is nothing wrong with having many congregations. But when the ultimate goal of a church is only THE NUMBR of people and uses this as a measurement of success, then the focus of ministry is quantity and not on quality (individual growth).
Therefore, the end-product of each ministry is people who are transformed, people who find meaning in life and people who use their full potential so that they will experience success in family, work and service.
Eph.2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (NLT)
Ministry responsibility is the best way for people to grow into maturity, because the sign of maturity is the ability to take responsibility.
Therefore we always encourage people to be involved in ministry so that he/she can grow.
PRINCIPLE # 4. THE STRENGTH OF THE CHURCH IS THE VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE EMPOWERED AND EQUIPPED, THEREFORE WE APPRECIATE THE CONTRIBUTION OF EVERY INDIVIDUAL IN THE MINISTRY (ROM.8: 5-6; 1 COR. 12: 18, 21-22).
Therefore we creatively do things that make it easier for people to become VOLUNTEERS in the church (involved in MINISTRY.)
- Make the ministry atmosphere fun and enjoyable.
- Let everyone see how they can contribute.
- Make people not afraid to try a ministry.
- Let people see how their lives can be more meaningful and valuable when involved in ministry.
PRINCIPLE # 5. WE BELIEVE THAT THE LORD HAS GIVEN POTENTIAL TO EVERYONE, OUR CALLING IS HELPING THEM TO DISCOVER AND DEVELOP THE POTENTIAL IN THEIR LIFE.
- We will always provide opportunities for everyone to develop their full potential in life.
- All great works always start from small things, therefore we will celebrate every step forward (progress) in the ministry.
EMPOWERING pattern:
- I do, you watch, let’s talk
- I do, you help, let’s talk
- You do, I help, let’s talk
- You do, I watch, let’s talk
PRINCIPLE # 6. EVERY MINISTRY MUST BE DONE EXCELLENTLY, TO REFLECT THE CHARACTER OF THE LORD.
Excellency shows that what we do is important, valuable and of eternal value so that we are worth fighting for; therefore every ministry is always well prepared and everything is done by paying attention to the little things (details).
